Enameled insulated aluminum wire is typically insulated using one to three layers of polymer film insulation, usually consisting of two different components to provide a tough, continuous layer of insulation. Enameled wire insulation films use (in increasing order of temperature range) polyvinyl alcohol formaldehyde or Formvar (PVF), polyurethane, polyamide (PUW), polyester (PEW), polyester-polyimide (EIW), polyamide-polyimide (or amide-imide) (AI-EIW) and polyimide (AIW). Polyimide insulated magnet wires are able to operate at temperatures up to 250°C.


Advantages of aluminum enameled wire:
Aluminum enameled wire is easier to wind coils than copper enameled wire because it is insulated well and has a long service life due to a strong oxide film on the surface.

Flat aluminum wire with polyamideimide topcoat is a rectangular enameled aluminum wire of heat resistance class N with a wide range of good to very good quality characteristics. The insulating film consists of two different coatings. These ensure very good permanent heat resistance and overload resistance, excellent resistance to mechanical stress, as well as excellent resistance to chemical attack by commercial detergents and cleaners, impregnating varnishes and resins, sealants, thinners, solvents and refrigerants, and oils as their vapors.
